Narrative design

A change vision, story, and visual identity that will bring your people with you, from day one.

You know your change needs a compelling narrative. Let’s get everyone aligned on one.

You know that how you tell the story of your change will determine whether people come with you or dig their heels in. The challenge is rarely the insight, it's the execution. Stakeholder opinions, corporate sign-off, and the pressure to please everyone can water down a message until it means nothing. We help you cut through all of that and land on a narrative that will actually work.

What is Narrative design?‍

A focused sprint that gives you the verbal and visual story of your change, crafted around your audience, grounded in behavioural science, and designed to motivate rather than mandate. You leave with a narrative document and visual identity ready to carry through every asset and channel from launch onwards.

‍Who is it for?‍

Change leaders who know that how you tell the story of your change will determine whether people come with you or dig their heels in. If you've ever seen a well-intentioned message land badly, or trigger the exact resistance it was trying to overcome, this is for you.

‍How long does it take?‍

Three weeks. An audience survey and focus group, a storytelling workshop, a visual identity workshop, and two finished outputs: a crafted narrative document and a visual identity ready to apply across all your materials.

What do we need to bring?

Your change strategy, your KPIs, and access to a representative sample of your employee audience. If you have existing research or audience data, bring it. We'll take it from there.

How is this different to just briefing our comms team?

Your comms team knows how to communicate, and we’d see them as a key stakeholder. We use behavioural science to understand what will motivate your specific audience and what might trigger resistance, then design the narrative to get ahead of that. The strategy behind the messaging is the ‘extra’ that we bring, as well as the messaging itself.

Does this feed into the rest of our rollout plans?

Yes, that's exactly the point. The narrative document and visual identity become the foundation for everything else: launch materials, manager packs, learning assets, and every communication throughout the programme. It's designed to be the first step, not a standalone piece.

Low risk, and the right first move

A 3-week fixed scope with set deliverables. And because the narrative feeds directly into every asset you build afterwards, it pays for itself many times over. Get the story right first, and everything that follows is easier and more effective.
